Somebody just asked me: “What was the best order you ever had?”.
I suppose that I could make a list of my most favourite customers but it would be hard to choose “the best order”.
As for the order that come to my mind, the first customer was a friend of mine, getting married in summer 2006 in Prague, one of the most romantic places to get married. I also enjoyed working on my first order for a seaside wedding in Santa Lucia, that was a very sparkly jewellery set with some blue and green crystal added.
A while back, I made some bridesmaids jewellery for a couple that were getting married on the same day as Kate Middleton an Prince William. They had no idea their wedding date is somehow unusual when they booked their wedding. The next thing, they were contacted by BBC and appeared TV few times and even got contacted by Brazilian TV. They were a great couple to work with. I especially enjoyed making a headband for the daughter of the bride who was in wheelchair so we needed to work out a solution for a headpiece that wouldn’t fall of when she rested her head against the headrest.
Another special order was making tiaras for Miss South Hertfordshire and Miss Hertfordshire, these tiaras were made in a way so they reflect as much light as possible on the catwalk. It is quite unusual for me to make tiaras for somebody I haven’t seen before but I do have to say that I was very please that they looked perfect on the girls that won. But I really can’t take any credit here as the winners were so beautiful they could have just worn anything!
I was asked a while back to design some jewellery to match some dresses for a movie Ultra Obscura, that was fun as I was even able to come to the set as they movie was being filmed!
It was really exiting coming to the film preview as well and seeing the tiara on the screen.
As for one of the nicest customers, I recently had a mother of the bride here in the shop and we chose a headpiece for her. Within about an hour, the grandmother of the bride turned up as her daughter called her and told her about my shop. She ordered a headpiece as well. That was quite a creation, made with three shades of pink Swarovski crystal. She spent quite some time in the shop, getting very excited about everything (especially everything that was pink). She often pops into the shop to say hello and it’s always nice to see her and her everlasting excitement.
Then there were some last minute orders, just last week I fixed a broken crystal necklace for a bride that really had her mind set on wearing it as something old. She was so grateful that I could fix it for her she got round the shop counter to give me a hug and then even sent me a thank you card the same day. I also had lady here few months ago who ordered a tiara from another designer and she went to pick it up it was nothing like she expected so she came to my shop just two days before her wedding and nearly started crying when I said that I can make in the evening for her so she can still have it ready for her wedding day.
And while listing some of my nicest customers, I can’t forget a lovely bride I made jewellery for a while back, she loved it so much she kept telling me she wears here tiara with her pyjamas in the house.
I think that the list could just go on and on, all customers are very special in some way and I feel very lucky being a tiara designer!
